Our Stories:
We have had many people over the years whose lives have been touched by Corvette Center Ministries. Here are some of their stories:
Stanley "Chef" Lee
Stanley was a drug addict for 25 years when we first met him in 2005. He was homeless and living in a tent on the beach in Nanakuli. He would frequent the various food outreaches that were being held at the beach. He said that his friends called him "Chef," because he used to be a cook at Wailana Coffee House and other places. He has been a long-time member of our Corvette Center Ministries family. He currently lives in his own apartment in Honolulu. |
Lee and Mary Haynes
Lee and Mary were one of the first couples we met in Waianae. At the time they were living at Nanakuli Beach and struggling with drugs and alcohol. "I was like a wild dog. If you try to feed it, it will bite you," said Lee. They moved off the beach into transitional housing in 2007 and have been clean and sober ever since. Lee and Mary now reside in an apartment in Honolulu and are living clean hardworking lives. |
James and Pam Beauford
James and Pam were homeless for many years and were the first couple to be married thru Corvette Center Ministries. They were together for 18 years before they took a big step by uniting their lives before God in 2009. They were also the first couple we welcomed into our first transitional house in Makaha in 2010. During their transition, Pam earned her GED. Now they live in affordable housing and are thriving in their places of employment. "This is our transition!" James said. |
Kazu and Marie Kalani
Kazu and Marie were also homeless for a very long time before going through rehab and finding housing through Corvette Center Ministries. "I didn't know where to go… I wanted to die… my marriage was on the rocks. Coming here gave me hope," Kazu said. Through CCM Kazu and Marie were able to rekindle their relationship with each other and their children. Marie also earned her GED during her transitional period. Now they live on the Big Island of Hawaii in their beautiful house and their many children and grandchildren. |
Moki and Kat Nahoi
When we first met Moki and Kat, they were living in a storage container at Hawaii Self Storage. They were both struggling with drug addictions and wanted to be clean and sober, but didn't know how. Corvette Center Ministries gave them the opportunity and help to see their prayers answered. "It's like we were born again," Moki remembers. Kat earned her GED during her transition and Moki became a strong leader, inspiring other homeless individuals to clean up their lives and move into housing. Now Moki and Kat live in Makaha and both have college degrees from Leeward Community College. |
